The Floral Month of June!

Daah dum dah dummmm. Daaaaah DUM dah dummm! Wedding time! June is THE month that weddings are held, and for a few reasons:

  1. The weather is favorable

  2. The month is named after Juno/Hera, goddess of women, childbirth, and marriage.

  3. Most schools are out for the summer & some workplaces have slowed work as well, so more people are able to attend.

With weddings come flowers. This month's flower, well in this case flowers, are the rose and honeysuckle. Both flowers can be used in bouquets for weddings and have a beautiful fragrance, but they differ slightly in their meanings.

The rose has quite a few meanings, which differs depending on the color of the rose. Below is a graphic from Reader's Digest showing the different colors and their meanings:

The honeysuckle also comes in a variety of colors, including white, yellow, pink, and red. However, the color of the flower does NOT affect the meaning. According to Gardenia.net, the honeysuckle represent:

  • Love and affection

  • Protection

  • Sweetness and happiness

  • Devotion

Celebrate those born in June by crafting some (or all) of the patterns below:

P.S.

The CAL is ready! I will post each pattern, along with a blog for it, on the 1st & 3rd Monday of each month. The first pattern will be Monday, June 3rd. I will have the pattern release dates on the CAL page of my website, here, along with the needed materials. I will also be creating a Ravelry page for the CAL, which can be purchased for a small fee (This helps fund future crochet projects for you to enjoy 😉). I will include a link to the Ravelry page in the 1st pattern blog.
