The season of giving is here! Christmas trees, decorations, & presents for those we love. We also see some floral decorations sprouting up: poinsettias, mistletoe, and holly berries. Speaking of holly berries, the Holly shrub and Narcissus are this month's birth flowers. So, what does each flower mean or represent?
According to Bloomandwild.com, the holly shrub represents happiness, optimism, good fortune, & peace. However, due to their dark green, spiky leaves they also represent the crown of thorns that Christ wore. It is also believed that the berries were originally white and were stained red by his blood.
The second flower is narcissus. I have already covered this flower, well its family members, in my March post, found here. The meaning remains the same as the ones from March.
