The Floral Month of January!

January is the beginning to a new year. A new year, a new piece of knowledge. I'm sure you know your zodiac and birth stone, but do you know your birth flower? Let me know in the comments below or on my FB page, Lana Tibi's Awesome Crochet Club.

The flower, well in this case flowers, associated with the month of January are the lovely carnation and the beautiful snowdrop. Now, all flowers have their symbolism, and this is also true for the carnation and the snowdrop.

The carnation, according to floweraura.com, symbolism varies depending on color choice. Below is a chart of what each color stands for:

The snowdrop, according to flowermeaning.com, symbolizes purity, hope, rebirth, and consolation or sympathy, depending on the situation. In general, they are associated with rebirth because they are one of the first flowers to break through the cold ground and bloom. They mean purity since their petal color is white. Finally, they represent consolation or sympathy when they are given at a funeral and hope when given at a wedding.

I have the idea for the CAL written out. I have to purchase yarn, which I plan to do within the week (hopefully by January 12th), make my version of the squares, and then have them tested. I'm planning to start the CAL in June, so keep your eyes open for further posts. 😉
