The Floral Month of February!

February is the month of L-O-V-E. This is a time when we celebrate the one we love and treat them to a night out to a fancy restaurant as well as many gifts, often including: a box of chocolates, a sparkling piece of jewelry, a cute animal with a cute saying, and, of course, flowers!

So, being that this month is all about love, this means that the birth flower for February should be the red rose, right? Wrong. The flower, well in this case flowers, associated with the month of February are the loyal violet, the passionate primrose, and the eloquent iris. Now, all flowers have their symbolism, and this is also true for the violet, the primrose, and the iris.

Violets come in several shades of blue, yellow, and cream, but these are known as pansies. However, the various shades do not mean separate things for this birth flower. The violet, according to snapblooms.com, symbolizes humility, spiritual wisdom, and a promise of faithfulness. Gift these lovely, sweet-smelling flowers to your loved one and let them know they'll always mean a lot to you.

The primrose also comes in several colors. They can be found in shades of white, cream, yellow, red, blue, and even blue-purple. They can also sometimes be bicolored, or come in two colors. The primrose, according to snapblooms.com, symbolizes young love, passionate love, and femininity. Besides giving them to your partner (or your crush) to show them that you "can't live without them", they can also be given from a daughter to a mother to show their loyalty, thoughtfulness, and dependability.

The iris comes in a rainbow of colors, which is what iris translates to in Greek. Iris, the goddess of the rainbow, traveled along rainbows to deliver messages to the other gods and goddesses. According to snapblooms.com, the iris symbolizes eloquence as well as good communication and mutual understanding, at least in folklore. It also symbolizes purity in the Japanese culture and is revered for its purifying evil energies. Gift these flowers to a friend to show them you adore their friendship, in an affectionate relationship to show your faithfulness to them, or to your parents to show your appreciation of their immense love and sacrifice.

P.S.

I'm working on my version of the c2c squares. I currently, as of this post, have 8 done. I have 4 to go, attach them together, and then border them (Hoping for this to be done by the end of February). Then I have to type it all up and have them tested. I'm hoping to have it typed up and ready to go by March 16th at the latest. I want testing done by May 17th at the latest since I'm planning to start the CAL in June, so keep your eyes open for further posts. 😉
